You can help someone living with breast cancer Today

Moisturizing Serum Anti-aging best naturalOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and with it comes awareness campaigns, fundraising, and controversy.

The plight of the pink ribbon is the practice of “pinkwashing”, which occurs when companies sell a product stating that proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research or support organizations, but either they never make that donation, or their product contains ingredients that contribute to the disease they claim to be fighting. Read all about it on the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund website.

Pinkwashing hurts the organisations that are doing due diligence, raising money for the right reasons and making a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients because we the people have had to be come weary of fundraising campaigns and choose to scoff and avoid the cause altogether. It is estimated that by the end of 2015 25,000 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer. With statistics like that I think it’s fair to say that we all know someone – or we are that someone – who has been directly impacted by this disease.

Causemetics is a line of non-toxic body care and cosmetics that raises money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund to help breast cancer patients be able to afford to fight today and live for tomorrow. Cancer is expensive and insurance only goes so far. The Causemetics mantra says it best, “We want to help women with breast cancer. Not someday. Today. Because the rent is due. Groceries need to be bought. Car payments. Hospital parking. Lost wages during treatment and recovery. Even beauty products add to the cost of living. Despite billions raised to find a cure, many of the 23,000 Canadians diagnosed this year need financial help right now.”

$10 from the purchase of every bottle of Today Moisturizing Serum – either from the Causemetics website, Cocoon Apothecary, or any other retailer – goes to the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Group.

Today Moisturizing Serum is a concentrated version of our Rosey Cheeks facial cream. The super star of this serum is certified organic rosehip CO2, which has twice the amount of carotenoids and retinoids as regular rosehip oil, to smooth, firm and nourish skin, deliver antioxidants (anti-aging!), and even has anti-inflammatory properties. We also add avocado and camellia oils for even more antioxidants and a moisturizing boost of fatty acids. Then there’s our rosemary extract all-natural preservative. That’s it, those are all of the ingredients. This oil blend absorbs quickly into skin, and it’s suitable for normal, dry, combination, mature and sensitive skin types. It’s a fantastic addition to your regular facial cream when you’re looking to pamper your skin in the cooler weather, but we love it as a night serum.
