Most of the botanical ingredients we use are certified organic. We believe that organic/biodynamic farming is the only way to a sustainable future on this planet. We are against the use of genetically modified organisms, petrochemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides. We believe that they are contributing to air, water and soil pollution as well as dwindling bee populations. We believe that they also have a horrendous impact on human & animal health. Since we have made the decision to only support organic farms, we have received the most high quality raw ingredients. Studies have shown that organics contain higher levels of anti-oxidants - perfect for skin care!

We signed a contract with People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in 2006 that we will never test on animals or use animal ingredients in our products (including honey and beeswax). We are proud to offer a vegan, cruelty-free skin care line and have very strong opinions about the use of animals on this planet. Please visit our blog for more information on this subject.

We became signers of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics by the Environmental Working Group in 2008 and have used their Skin Deep Cosmetic Database as a reference for formulating and reformulating all of our products. In this toxicity rating system, our products are all 0-1 out of 10. In 2011, we were named champions of the compact, meaning that we will go down in history as a company that lead the way in providing safe, non-toxic products in the skin care and cosmetic industry.

In 2012, we signed the Just Beautiful Pledge by Environmental Defense Canada. By signing this pledge, we have committed to not putting the toxin ten list of ingredients in our products. This list includes parabens, fragrance and petrolatum.
We use glass bottles and jars because this is what we feel is the most sustainable material for this planet. It comes from sand, a renewable resource that can be recycled. The skin care and cosmetic industry is responsible for an enormous amount of plastic bottles that end up in the landfill and in our oceans. It is harmful to wildlife and is made with petroleum, a dwindling resource that creates environmental disasters and political strife.
Our plastic caps are pre-cycled from a clearance house meaning that we use the overstock of bigger companies that would otherwise be thrown out.
Our labels are made with corn rather than petrochemicals.
Our paper tubes are made with post-consumer materials and can be recycled.
We ship our products with vegetable-based, compostable peanuts.
