We use certified organic ingredients in our products and are 100% GMO-free. We believe in preserving nature with sustainable farming practices. We source our ingredients from organic farms around the world that do not use harmful pesticides that contribute to air, water and soil pollution causing serious health impacts on humans and the planet.
We are 100% cruelty-free and vegan.
We became signers of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics by the Environmental Working Group in 2008 and have used their Skin Deep Cosmetic Database as a reference for formulating and reformulating all of our products. In this toxicity rating system, our products are all 0-1 out of 10. In 2011, we were named 'champions of the compact', meaning that we will go down in history as a company that led the way in providing safe, non-toxic products in the skin care and cosmetic industry.
In 2012, we signed the Just Beautiful Pledge by Environmental Defense Canada. By signing this pledge, we have committed to keeping the toxin ten list of ingredients out of our products. This list includes parabens, fragrance and petrolatum.
Our products are packaged in glass bottles and jars rather than plastic. The skin care and cosmetic industry is responsible for an enormous amount of plastic bottles that end up in the landfill and in our oceans and may be responsible for hormonal distruption in humans and wildlife due to the addition of plasticizer BPA.
We are 100% plant-based, meaning we choose natural ingredients over petroluem. Most of the beauty industry is dominated by petroleum ingredients that are inert and cheap to produce. They do nothing for your skin in the way of nourishment and can also be potentially hazardous with many studies linking these ingredients to hormonal disruption, cancer and various other diseases.
We use packing peanuts produced from vegetable starch. They are biodegradable and can be placed in your compost.
We work with several retailers to offer a recycling program where a refund may be applicable. Check with your local Cocoon retailers to see if they have one in place.
