Our Story

Cocoon is a homegrown Canadian company that began on a whiff and a whim. Jessica Burman, founder and creator, began her love affair with all things natural after her first encounter with essential oils at a health food store - she fell into a 'lavender haze'. The aroma captivated her so much, she felt that she had stumbled upon a secret. Her first thought was, 'Why doesn't everyone know about this?' At the same time, Jessica was also realizing that natural ingredients were superior to synthetic ingredients for skin care. A self-professed beauty junkie, she had tried everything from department store counters to drug store shelves. It wasn't until she noticed her mother's skin looking radiant from a natural cream that she understood, not only is it healthier to use natural ingredients but it is also makes for a superior product. Jessica poured over every book she could get her hands on that covered essential oils, cosmetic ingredients and plant biology. She eventually achieved her certification in aromatology and was ready to share her knowledge with the world - hence the blossoming of Cocoon Apothecary.
